Development of New Channels in Asia to Sell Japanese Visual Content

Development of New Channels in Asia to Sell Japanese Visual Content

Yoshimoto Kyogo Co., Ltd. announced a tie up with Content Land Inc. from Hong Kong to promote the sales of Japanese visual content in the Asian market more powerfully.

The press conference saw the speakers Ryutaro Ko, the chief of Yoshimoto Creative Agency Asia overseas business center, Johnny Yau, the Director of Content Land Inc., and executives of Media Plus in Korea, i-cable in Hong Kong and Thai Digital Entertainment Content Federation in Thailand.

The comprehensive entertainment channel “Yoshimoto Azio,” which can be viewed in all of Asia, North America, Europe and other territories started broadcasting last year. Yoshimoto is promoting high quality Japanese variety shows in Asian countries through this avenue. But program sales have been behind other countries like Korea.

Mr. Yau commented on the tie- up with Yoshimoto, “This press conference is the starting point. We’d like to let Japanese broadcasting stations know about us and cooperate in various ways from now. Through our business, we’d like to promote many programs to the whole of Asia and the Western markets. For that, the exchange between Asian programs and protection of copyright are important. Our cooperation with the very experienced Yoshimoto Kogyo is important in this way. We’d like to be a bridge between Japanese broadcasting stations, Asia and others.”

Content Land Inc. produces programs, manages channels, overseas advertising and has huge networks not only Hong Kong and China, but also in other Asian countries, Australia, New Zealand, North America and Europe. Yoshimoto benefits from the tie-up in that it can unify its overall program sales. Speedier program sales to the world will be easier than before.

Also there used to be a lump-sum contract concerning copyright and this was a hindrance to developing the overseas market for Japanese content holders and to localization. Content Land will promote “Yoshimoto Azio”, make good use of SNS and arrange promotion packages. It will give momentum to the development of Japanese content in Asia on huge scale, which has never happened before.

It aims to promote exchanges of Asian programs and establish a treasure trove of good quality programs in Asia.
