5th OKINAWA INTERNATIONAL MOVIE FESTIVAL

We are glad to announce that the main poster design of 5th Okinawa International Movie Festival will be showcased from 23rd to 30th March in 2013.

At the 5th OIMF, for the first time we opened up to the public, include designers and people who want to be a designer in Okinawa, the opportunity to design the Okinawa International Movie Festival poster. From the prefecture, we accepted 76 applicants full of thoughts and passion. (The deadline was on 15^th November 2012) 　

The applications were judged by specialists of design, Yoshimoto Laugh & Peace Inc., entrusted by the executive committee of OIMF for the management.

The best design by Taku Kinjyo of Naha City was selected!

Kinjyo’s design features several animals related to Okinawa, all laughing and smiling in a circle, including a shisa, Milk Spirit, pig, mongoose, goat, Kijimuna, white shark and Okinawan rail bird. The design expresses the view of the world where the power of laugh spreads peace. The committee therefore decided that the design was most appropriate for the festival’s theme of “Laugh & Peace”. He was awarded a prize of 300,000 yen.

The poster and his design will be used in a variety of decorations around the venues.

This time as a first trial, we called applications from the public, and from now on, we’d like to continue this kind of project and programs for encouraging the movie festival and the people in the prefecture to share together.
