As we all gather for this 5th “Okinawa International Movie Festival”, one of the important themes of this gathering is to “Enjoy the Okinawa International Movie Festival together”, under the strong bonds that we have as citizens and visitors to Okinawa. I would also like to express my deep appreciation to everyone that has been involved in putting this festival together.

With this year’s theme for Okinawa tourism of “Be Innovative! Okinawa”, we aim for further evolution to be able to respond flexibly to various changes in the promotion of tourism in Okinawa.

Similarly, this 5th “Okinawa International Movie Festival” has deepened its cooperation with the local community to include an unprecedented amount of local Okinawan content, as it seeks itself to further “evolve” into a “celebration of a broad range of entertainment” with a variety of programs for visitors from both Japan and abroad.

The theme of this Movie Festival, “Laugh & Peace” will never change. I believe that as each citizen of this prefecture maintains this feeling, it will spread from Okinawa to the world, and will also lead to the boosting of tourism in Okinawa.
Let’s share the charms of Okinawa with the world, with an attitude of laughter and peace.
