The first romantic film in Korea to become a blockbuster, with over 4 million tickets sold, creatig the “first love” social phenomenon!
The sweetness and pathos of youth resonates with the viewer in this beautiful and sensitive love story.
Seung-Min is a college freshman, just beginning his architectural studies. He meets a girl named Seo-Yeon (Suzy), a music student, in the “Architecture 101” class and falls in love at first sight. But being inexperienced with relationships, he never declares his love for her, and from a small misunderstanding, they drift apart.
15 years later, Seung-Min (Uhm Tae-woong), now an architect, receives a surprise visit from Seo-Yeon (Han Ga-in) who says she wants him to build a house. During the building process, Seo-Yeon’s background is slowly revealed and with it, old memories resurface with new emotions. But, Seung-Min is already engaged...
Despite being a romantic drama, with its release in Korea, the film captured the attention of a surprising number of male viewers. All empathetically supported the movie as “their story”, and the film reached a new record at the box-office in 6 years for a romantic film (“A Moment to Remember” 2,560,000 / “Maundy Thursday” 3,130,000).
Director, Lee Yong-joo is an architect himself. The mellow acting of the present-day cast, Uhm Tae-woong and Han Ga-in stirs a beautiful sadness, while newcomers (and now new stars) from the film, Lee Je-hoon and Suzy (MissA), charm with their naïve and pure energy. The ‘90s hit song “Etude of Memories,” revives the days from the past. Those who see this film are sure to be take back to when they were pure and hopelessly awkward.
