Storyline

A report by the Taiwanese government says 1.3 out of 10 couples in Taiwan are international couples and 80% of them comprise of  Taiwanese man and foreign woman. Bringing brides to rural villages is a phenomenon caused by a low birth rate.

Inspired by this, producer Gang Lee launched the project “We Are Family” and wrote four screenplays, depicting women who came from Vietnam, mainland China, and Indonesia to Taiwan for marriage, as well as depecting their families and friends.

One of them, “The Happy Life of Debbie,” is about a brave Indonesian woman supporting her unemployed husband. Working at a coffee farm, she’s currently developing an original blend hoping to win a contest while supporting a family of three, including her husband and son. One day, her ex comes to visit from Indonesia. She had kept it secret from her husband that her ex was the father of her son...
