I am deeply pleased to hold the 5th Okinawa International Movie Festival. I am also extremely grateful to all involved, who worked so hard to open the exhibition.

At last year’s festival, due to new features such as the world’s largest removable outdoor screen and a gorgeous fashion show, we recorded our largest attendance to date, with 410,000 people.

I can recall the laughs and emotions from our many guests as though it were yesterday.

At the 5th Okinawa International Movie Festival as well, with “Laugh and Peace” as a concept, we have added the Laugh Category and the Peace Category to the feature film program. We have also added the area submission project. With the “Okinawa 41 Municipalities Jimot CM Competition”, which features Okinawan municipalities as settings, we have planned an event more closely related to local areas. We expect that this will be an excellent opportunity to widely appeal to others with Okinawa’s energy and spirit of mutual aid.

Concerning this village as well, we are doing our utmost to ensure that the Okinawa International Movie Festival, which contributes greatly to this prefecture’s tourism and local area promotion, will end in success. We are eagerly awaiting our many guests.
