I would like to congratulate to hold the thriving “5th Okinawa International Movie Festival”, and express my deep gratitude to everyone who has been committed to the implementation of the festival.

Okinawa International Movie Festival celebrates its 5th year, and we are planning to continue the competitions in the “Laugh Division” and “Peace Division”, the core of this movie Festival every year, and the outdoor screening on the world-biggest- screen which was one of the most talked about event in the last year’s festival. Also, we are going to have events that have deep connections with the local residents including the “JIMOTO CM COMPETITION”, which added the competition among all the municipalities in Okinawa transmitting the attraction of their local communities this year, and I expect this year’s festival will exceed the level of the previous ones.

“Laugh & Peace”, the concept of the “Okinawa International Movie Festival”, overlaps with the cheerfulness, generosity and the wish for peace that we, citizens of Ginowan and Okinawa residents, have. I have no doubt that people meet someone new through the films, and the new encounters will be extended to all over the world as a message.

Ginowan, the main venue of the festival, is a beautiful place with beaches which is the essence of Okinawa. I hope you’ll enjoy the atmosphere of this city as well as the movie Festival to the fullest.
