As the Artistic Director of the Cannes Directors Fortnight, I was fortunate enough to have been able to be at the birth of the Okinawa International Movie Festival. I have great memories of my stay on this beautiful island : I enjoyed the climate, the nature, the delicious food and, last but not least, the very nice people of Okinawa. More than always a devoted supporter of the new and independent Japanese cinema, I send you my best wishes for the 5th edition of the Festival, I am sure that it will be full of joy, guests, pleasure and discoveries as usual.
